Amsterdam Central Station
- Slow Traffic Passage
15,000 cyclists and pedestrians make daily use of the slow traffic passage (langzaamverkeers-passage) under the Central Station in Amsterdam. The New Tunnel is the ideal connection between the city centre and the IJ. The specialists of Vexcolt/Atec were involved in the design of the dilatation profiles in the tunnel.
The tunnel is 3 meters high, 110 meters long, and 10 meters wide. The walls of the tunnel are lined with 46,000 tiles depicting a Dutch scene of merchant and fishing vessels of Cornelis Bale (1652-1733).
