The Shanghai Tower is a skyscraper in Shanghai, China. The building is 632 meters high and has 126 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. Thus, it is the tallest tower in a group of three skyscrapers, the other towers being Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Centre. It is China’s tallest skyscraper and the second highest in the world, after the 828-metre-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The primary function of the tower is office space, but there is also encompasses a large 5-star hotel. In addition, 5 floors are in use as an observatory. At the bottom of the tower there are several commercial spaces. The construction of the Shanghai Tower began on 29 November 2008 and was completed in 2015.
